AKC Fit Dog Program
The American Kennel Club is committed to improving and maintaining the fitness and health of all dogs and their owners.
AKC FIT DOG titles were designed to provide a structured, individualized fitness plan that you and your dog can do together.
There are 3 levels of AKC fitness titles—Bronze (FITB), Silver (FITS), and Gold (FITG). Each title requires a specific number of activity points to be completed, which varies based on title level.
Dogs who are at least 6 months old are eligible to take earn the Bronze AKC FIT DOG TITLE. Dogs must be registered or enrolled with AKC and have an AKC, PAL, or AKC Canine Partners number when the Title Application is submitted.
Level One Fit Dog Course (3 Points Towards AKC Fit Dog Titles)
This course improves your dog's flexibility, form, balance, and overall wellness. While encouraging dogs and their people to be active together through AKC titles. A great foundation course for a future in advanced dog sports. The course is non-competitive, and participation is at your own skill level. Six AKC modules will be taught in the Level One course curriculum including the titling paperwork, canine massage, a bonding "Pupnic" and presentation of title certificates.
Level Two Fit Dog Course (6 Points towards AKC Fit Dog Titles)
This course builds on skills from Level One: core strength, flexibility, coordination, and cardio health. Six AKC Level Two modules will be taught. This course will include elevated exercises, balance equipment, climbing, weaving and tunnel. As time allows: Guest speakers, Pack Walks, canine massage, wearing canine footpads/goggles, and presentation of title certificates.
